We love comfortable. It’s true our beds must be just right, our coffee brewed to our heart’s delight and perhaps fluffy sock are preferable. We have to admit that sometimes comfortableness can be very very good. Then on the flip side, it can be very bad. When you are building a legacy, changing the game, building something that will outlast you requires stomping out it’s the greatest enemy and hindrance – comfortableness.
All the great people that have done great things before you probably weren’t so comfortable. They may have had ideas that were less than popular and that went against the grain. They destroyed the box that had a pretty prepackaged way of doing things, and they discovered the ingenious – the limitless possibilities of just daring to be different. Daring to dream things that took great doses of courage nobody else had. The power of believing that they were created for more and that the more wouldn’t come to where they were comfortable but to where they were drawn out into the deep where there was no certainty.
I never knew that I could swim and not sink until I was so deep in that there was nothing to hold me up but the courage that I must swim or drown in these waters of comfortableness.
What will you gain by taking a step?
While driving home from work today, music playing in the background, head moving to the rhythm of the beat. A question entered my mind. What constitutes a great life? I’ve heard this question answered many different ways. Some would say having more money. Some may say living in a big house. I’m betting some would even say having a job that they enjoy going to everyday. I’m sure there are many ways to look at this question and many ways to answer it.
A great life is more than how much money we have, where we live or any monetary value associated with acquiring more things. These things surely can make a difference in your living standard, but I’m not just talking about disposal value – I’m talking the things that are great in our lives that are priceless. A great life constitutes being able to make the best of everything – seeing the best of everything. Appreciating and respecting and holding close the people in our lives. Loving others and doing things that bring about joy. It means seeing and grasping the opportunities that lie ahead of us with a winning attitude. A great life is giving our best and reaching our greatest everyday. It’s allowing our life lessons to be building blocks to a stronger foundation and not a hindrance.
Maybe living a GREAT life has a different meaning to you and that’s alright. The beginning of a great life begins with our faith in the lord and savior – embracing all the greatness he has prepared before us. it’s training ourselves to see how he truly has done great things. The richness in our lives stems little from what we have in our pocket but what we hold in our hearts.
The Lord our God, the Lord is one. love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorpost’s of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-8
There is but one God – the God of all creation. We are to love him with every part of our being- ingrained in our hearts. Spreading the love – keeping it at the front of our minds. Teaching our children about such love and greatness. His love for us is at all times – in all ways – never ceasing. It is unrelenting and unshakable. Let that love resonate within you today – allowing it to break through to any place that needs a touch from God. Walk in it – talk it – live it today.
Lord, set up a guard for my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.
It is no doubt that our mouths have power – to build or tear down. We speak words from the time we wake to the time we sleep. What are we saying to ourselves and others? Are they life sustaining – peace maintaining? God calls us to mind our mouths – every thought doesnt need to be spoken. The tongue can be trained to obey. The old saying “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt.” is the condoning of an undisciplined tongue. It is simply an untruth.
Today use your tongue for the goodness of God. Make it obey – use it to speak hope, love, unity to yourself and those around you. Use them wisely – once spoken can’t be retrieved. Build – uplift and restore in love today.

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
Christ came In Love – he suffered and endured for our sins. Giving up of his life – that we may live. Not that we would merely live – but that we would live in abundance. Why is Love so important? It is what everything else is spawned off of. To live and walk in love – there has to be a better reason other than ourselves for living. I Corinthians 13:4-7 tells us that Love is patient and kind. It does not envy or boast; isnt arrogant or rude. Never insisting on it’s own way. It’s not irritable or resentful; it doesnt rejoice in wrongdoing; but rejoices with truth. It bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
When we walk in flesh we dont always hold up to that mentioned above. The bible tells us to worship in spirit and truth. We may loose our patience from time to time, but with much practice and renewing of our minds daily – we get better. We can become more loving – even if we may not feel like it. Joy tells us that joy is independent of a circumstance. So when we act in love purposely – we find joy and patience.
What can you do more of in your daily walk to live in love? To step outside of ourselves to do for others. The joy you would find from doing so would be incomprehensible. Take one of these fruits of the spirits today – Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Apply in Love!
Today’s Declaration: I was created in love – I can be patient and kind. Peace dwells within me. Everything I do will be done with gentleness. I will Love others as God loved me!
