Scripture Point Friday | Magnify

image

I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the LORD; The humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.  Psalm 34:1-3

Have you heard what you magnify increases in your life? Certainly we are reminded in this Scripture to magnify God and his goodness – to give him praises at all times.  Sometimes the all times can feel like a bit of a tall order. The truth of the matter is that when you magnify (enlarge) his presence in your life – you also enlarge his power into your life. When you cause him to increase in you – something is forced to decrease. What do you need to decrease in your life today?

Shift your focus – put him first at all times and he will show up in your life in more ways than you ever imagined.  Decrease me Lord – that you may increase in me!

Scripture Point Thursday | Early Rise

image

O God, you are my God; early will I seek you; My soul thirsts for you; My flesh longs for you. In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.  So I have looked for you in the sanctuary,  To see your power and your glory. Psalm 63:1-2

When you wake in the morning you may feel thirsty or a bit hungry – rightly so you have practically fasted all night. It is said to be very important to have a glass of water as a means to give the body a boost. Morning is the best time to get some alone time with God – seeking him for your day. To energize your battery while the day is new.  It is the best opportunity to seek guidance and clarity for the Daily activities ahead.

I don’t know about you – but more of him is what I need. He is your heavenly father who rejoices in his time with you.  He has so much he wants to share with you. Bask in his loving-kindness. He wants to equip you – cover and protect you. Your soul hungers to praise him for another day with fullness of limitless possibilities. Seek him early, noon and night – be filled.

Scripture Point | He Saves

image

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The love God has for you is certainly Immeasurable. He put an end to sin to all who would believe In him. He provided a way for us to live and not be bound in sin. He introduced freedom – for one to be reborn and renewed. To be established in his love and grace. To infuse your life with a joy that can only be given by him. He paid your debt – you can rest knowing once you confessed with your mouth and believed in your heart that he is Lord you became a new creature – filled with his spirit.

Yes you still have free will – but the grace of God wants to lead you in all decisions – that you may live according to his will and his promise for your life. God did not send his son Jesus to condemn you, but to set you free. To pour out his love, his joy, his peace and eternal life to his beloved child.

Scripture Point Monday | Waiting

image

Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt you to inherit the land. Psalms 37:34

Today Lord we are going to be mindful of who we are in you – and who you created us to be. We know that it is our duty to wait and stay in step with you. We will not move ahead of your leading nor do we become idle – we know that our faith and works belong together. We will wait for you to give us the right moves and the right turns. Let us not rush your good for us – neither hinder it by standing still. We will go when you say go – stop when you say stop. As long as you lead we know our path is full of your goodness.

Scripture Point Thursday | Dependence

image

Lord I turn to you. My God, I trust in you.
Psalm 25:1-2

Today, Lord we thank you for your love and kindness. We thank you for our guided pathways – your growing within us a yielded heart. We put our trust in you night and day, seeking your truth in every way. We know it is your hands within heaven that covers and protects – who comforts and fill our hearts with joy and our minds with peace. Your grace and mercy is so good – we sing your praises in all the earth. Our focus is stayed on you. Lead us into pleasant places where the stream is plentiful and the harvest great. Place within us the heart that reaches out to the lost – that put ourselves aside to build your kingdom. That our light is set ablaze that others may come to know your love. For it is for you we live and work – not by might or power, but by your spirit.

It’s Just A Test

image

Sitting in class about three rows back ready to take my spelling test – I believe it was fifth or six grade.  I was always known to do well – test scores usually best of class. Something about this day was different. I didnt study as much as I should have. In the pit of my stomach was an aching – I didnt want to do bad. We had a few moments to review – there I was wondering, contemplating how was I going to insure a passing grade. Good and evil battling in my mind – “take what you get kiddo.” My savvy left bellowing “go ahead cheat!” I had never cheated before and getting good grades was imporatant – so in that moment of desperation – the worse won. I took the few words I was struggling to remember and wrote them in the palm of my hand. My heart racing inside my chest, fully aware of the wrong I was doing. Just in case I got stuck – my lifeboat was in my hand.

Well I did use it – we graded papers immediately and my score read 100%. It was the only 100 in the class. I had one thing working against me – another kid saw what I did. It didnt end well – my teacher was hugely disappointed. Mr Carpenter – funny thing I remember his name – he had the look of fury upon his face. I remembered because I had to walk the aisle of shame to his office that sat in the far left to recieve my paddling. A torturous grab of the back of my pants – his arm stretched way back – brought forward to my tail with a crashing mind altering landing. That tear that broke from my eyes burned my face – the smart kid had been naughty. He gave me a minute to gather myself before going back to class. If my skin were light – Im sure the blood that flowed to my face would have showed a starkling red. With all eyes glaring at me – I inched backed to my desk to put my head down in shame. I didnt participate for the rest of the day. I had did just what I feared – failed the test.

Life is full of test – we all want to pass. Often we wish for a shortcut – wanting the answers without going through the pain of the lesson. Yet these test are paramount to our living – growing and thriving. God doesn’t celebrate in our failures. When we learn the lesson he is trying to teach us – he rejoices. There is no greater feeling than passing a test with flying colors. It reminds me of Moses being assigned the job of bringing the Israelite’s out of Eypgt. He tried everything he could to cheat his way out. Exclaiming he had a speech impediment – to asking for someone else to go in his place. That test was for Moses and him alone. It was a test God had equipped him for – he was born for this occasion.

Just like Moses God has placed a test before us – he knows that we are built to win with flying colors. He also know that they all won’t be easy. We may complain through them – even look for a cheat sheet. He knows that they will be the faith building blocks we need for a victorious life.

Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. James 1: 3.

Remember that moving toward destiny will come with some test. The good news is that you got this – look at Moses.  God knows what it takes to get you where you are going. He has all the answers – it’s not cheating – he is your guide. Whatever your test is today – dig in with fullness of power and do God proud. Don’t worry about a stumble along the way – keep going and endure. God is for you and not against. He is near you for the long haul – he won’t make it easy, but he will make it worth it.

Scripture Point Wednesday | Mind Your Mouth

image

Lord, set up a guard for my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.

It is no doubt that our mouths have power – to build or tear down. We speak words from the time we wake to the time we sleep. What are we saying to ourselves and others? Are they life sustaining – peace maintaining? God calls us to mind our mouths – every thought doesnt need to be spoken. The tongue can be trained to obey. The old saying “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt.” is the condoning of an undisciplined tongue. It is simply an untruth.

Today use your tongue for the goodness of God. Make it obey – use it to speak hope, love, unity to yourself and those around you. Use them wisely – once spoken can’t be retrieved. Build – uplift and restore in love today.

Scripture Point Tuesday | Stand

image

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of  the devil. Ephesians 6:10

Today as I did my morning walk – inclined to enjoy some gospel music. One of my favorite songs “stand” poured into my ears. I began to think of how we are called to stand – not of our own strength but the vast strength of God. We are called to the truth – such as wearing a belt around our waist. That is what holds all things together. We stand with a shield of faith – nothing aimed at you shall prosper. We can trust in the word – that flourishes within – shall make you strong in everything – like a mighty warrior ready for battle.

Today stand in faith holding close to the voice and direction of God who holds you securely in the palms of his hands. In your standing you will gain understanding and appreciation for him who will complete every good work he has begun in you. Stand!

Scripture Point Saturday | Wonderfully Made

image

For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made.
                           Psalm 139:13-14

I’m sure you know what it was like to create something that you were proud of. You couldn’t wait to show it to the world. It was beautiful – created with lots of heart and love. It was perfect to you – you guarded it with everything you had. God created you with such love and kindness – that when he was done creating – he said it was good. Molding the very fabric of your being right in your mothers womb – from nothing to something. He knew everything there was to know about you. He isn’t surprised about anything concerning you.

Today embrace the uniqueness of who God created you to be. Your smile, your hair, your eyes, your walk – he loves it and so should you. You are special – you are loved. He knitted you. Nothing concerning you is foreign to him – He knows your inward parts. Your are a child of a King- so fearfully and wonderfully made.

You are perfect just the way you are. You don’t have to change to be or act like anybody else. He loves all of you. Whenever you get to feeling like less than your best – remind yourself that the potter doesn’t make mistakes. The creativity that he used on you is seamless. Everything you need to stand – walk in boldness and power- is already knitted within you. Rid yourself of anything that doesnt align to God’s truth about you. Strength, joy, love, happiness, hope, good health, mind of God, with favor, his image – he created you.
